The Amen Break is Everywhere

Any serious musician or fan of music should listen to this video (there's nothing important to watch).

It's a video made by Nate Harrison in 2004 delves into the history of the Amen Break, a now-ubiquitous drum beat which appears...well...everywhere.

The video is a bit long, and the voice is NPR-monotonous but it's pretty mind-blowing. You'll be glad you watched it (or maybe not).

It's like the Helvetica (the movie) of music...once listening to this, I'll be forever the annoying guy at the bar pointing out that such and such a beat is the Amen Break.

but don't take my word for it...

check it out!
